Mohammed Alyafei
Mohammed Alyafei is currently the Director of the Analysis Department of the Qatar Financial Information Unit (FIU), the State of Qatar’s FIU. He is considered to be the youngest appointed director in Qatar FIU.
Mohammed is a dedicated professional and public servant with extensive experience in anti-money laundering and combating terrorism financing (AML/CTF). He was one of the lead representatives of the FIU at the recent mutual evaluation of the State of Qatar. Mohammed was instrumental in showing the evaluators that financial intelligence from the Qatar FIU is used in investigations by law enforcement and other competent authorities to develop evidence and trace criminal proceeds related to ML, TF, and associated predicate offences. Mohammed and his team believe in fostering a collaborative and continuous learning environment to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in FIU operations. He dedicates himself to refining strategies and staying current with emerging threats in the AML/CTF landscape to safeguard Qatar’s financial system.
Mohammed holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Qatar University, and an Executive master’s in strategic management from HEC Paris. He looks forward to sharing his insights and Qatar’s experience and learning from fellow professionals at the conference.
